The first way to obtain a Steel Plate Gauntlets is to craft one at any time using at least a Smithy station or one of its upgraded variants.
The second way is as a very rare drop from Plague Villagers surrounding Plague Town. A steel item drop is not all that rare, but getting specifically the piece of gear you desire, is extremely rare.

- Since the fact that equipping the Steel Plate Gauntlets along with any other armour causes your movement speed to slow down, it is advised to try and quickly unequip them to flee more successfully from any kind of threat. However, if you are looking to survive one hit kills and take a few heavy shots in battle, then you will need your armour equipped.
